Hi folks i know there's loads of features on here re attaching /fixing new polythene membrane to the front cab doors to keep the damp out. just purchased new door panels and had them covered so don't want the damp getting in again.
In fact but there,s so many conflicting suggestions I'm going dizzy reading them all.
Even today TPS in Eastleigh Hants said every one uses hawkins tape but thats one sided gaffa it has to be double sided or a spray glue or mastic as there's simply not enough room round the edge to put one sided tape
So what do you recommend and why?
Many thanks in advance.
Dave

I've just finished insulating and fitting a VB to the rear of my van. I used double sided carpet tape, sticks well is easy to put on and at the moment the barrier can be peeled back if needed.

Spray glue...that's how we used to do it at VW.

Gaffer (or Duck) tape for me too. Not as pretty as Martin's way but does the job.

As you say...the way the plastic is secured isn't that important, it doesn't even have to look pretty behind the panel. The original stuff VW used was 'semi' stick to allow removal and re-attachment of the membrane. In most cases the membrane could be carefully peeled back to carry out work in the door void and then re-attached without any further application of adhesive.
