France at Easter ?

We are thinking about having a trip to France at Easter next year , would like to see the country at a different time of the year etc etc
Now I know the French are big catholic's so will be celebrating Easter , my question is do things 'close' down for the holidays ?
Will things be quiet or relativity busy ?
Anyone recommend somewhere to watch 'mad easter stuff' ? you know the thing dragging dead bodies through the streets hoping that they will be resurrected

Hello,
Right, France is not THAT Catholic, so things don't close at Easter
On the contrary, all the Camping Municipales open from Easter or just before.
Try to avoid traveling on busy week ends
Sorry, don't know of any dead body dragging festivals, I'll have to look that one up
Get South of the Loire valley for better weather.
I'm hoping we'll be able to ski at Easter in the Massif Centrale.
Cordialement,

Unfortunately, that's not true.
I will be in France from mid May until early June 2012 & I have found that at least two Camping Municipales in Dept.23 Creuse will be closed in May. The one at St.Dizier-Leyrenne only opens mid June until late August. The one at Bourganeuf is only open July - August. Also, the one at Dun-Le-Palestel doesn't appear to be open in May but info on this site is difficult to find.

Cheer Bolton Lad , we aren't too fussed about the campsites as we will be mainly staying on the aires

, if not all the time

Mark it tells you in the Aires book when they're open

Most probably the tourist and skiing areas are open all year otherwise perhaps they don't risk the facilities freezing.

Ok, just had a flick through ours and the ones that close seem to be the ones attached to campsites, most of those seem to open April and close mid October.
