I've just installed dual Dellorto DHLA 40's on my Type4 2L Air Cooled engine.
But I have no Idea where to attach the vacume hoses form my Dual-advance distributor.
I can see the distributor vacuume ports on the carbs, 2 per carb but I have no idea how the tubes need to run.
Does any one know how to plumb them up to the carbs?

its not dual advance

one is advance tother is retard.

connect a vacc port off the dells to the advance

blank the retard.

and do something with youe engine breather pipe too!!

That's great stuff, I was wrecking my head trying to work it out!
So I can use any one of the two ports from the distributor for advance and
attach it to all four vacume ports on my Dell's?

And I've put a little chrome covered breather filter on the crank case now!

I think th 4 pipes you are talking about are used to balance the carbs, using a manometer. Not sure about DHLA but the DRLA left carb has an advance connector, to be connected to the cone side of the vacuum unit. Blank the inside off.

Hay, it seems some of my info was wrong.
The Dell's are DRLA's and they only have one distributor vacuum port.
So it seems you've managed to completely solve my problems.

Hi, sorry to hijack the thread, but looking to install the same Dellorto's to my 2.0 A/C and wondered where you bought yours from.
Did you buy them as a kit, or separate bits?
Which manifolds have you used to fit everything under the engine cover, and did they come with the brake servo vacuum take off?

Stateside tuning do a complete kit. As does eurocarb.
The manifolds are normally csp short ones
Dont forget these will then need bossing for brake servo barbs or else no brakes!
But the single biggest thing you must do is get it set up on a rolling road asap.

Mike take a look at fitting a breather box too.
Fitting dells will increase crankcase pressure leading to oil trying to get out of your motor!
Fitting the breather box kit is simple.
There are three inlets. one from each rocker cover and the other from the motor
Its a must do mod with dells but cheap. Try cool air for the kit.

Jason has been there and bought the fitting of Dellortos to the CU 2 litre t shirt.... with complete success.

Whilst we're on the subject, why do Dells increase crankcase pressure?
And should I fit this breather box to my rocker covers on a wbx with Dells?

its to do with the increased volumetric effieicncy of the motor.

it would be a good idea to do the breather box mod on any engine be it Aircooled or wasserboxer.

They were expensive, but they were in perfection condition and I was told that they were jetted to my vans specifications.

But as I've just found out the breaks don't work as well as they usually do without the servo vacuum hose attached.
I wasn't told about this when making the purchase from Dellorto and the inlet manifolds don't come with holes for the vacuum hose.
Will I have to get them modified to get my break servo unit working?

Do you know where may do the bossing for brake servo barbs for me?

And I now have a little confusion to do with the vacuum hose attachments from the carbs.
It seems there is two per carburettor, could it possible that one is for the brake servo?
