My accelerator pedal keeps sticking despite lubricating the bits at both ends.

Reading a few posts on here, looks like I have to replace the cable.

Anyone got a step by step guide to replacement procedure on a LHD 1983 1600cs na diesel?

Maybe a new cable will make it go faster ... err.. less slow! Ho! Ho!

Cable replacement was easier than expected. Only three places to detach - at pedal, engine bay, and rear cross member.

Basically same procedure as Wiki by HacksawBob, except you can't access via front indicator. Have to drop spare wheel. Was surprised to find the cable feeds across from nearside to offside, being attached on the offside at the rear cross member(as per wiki photo).

Found the cause of sticking throttle was a kinked, split, rusty cable cover just about a foot forward of the engine bay. The damaged cable could be seen by looking through gap between the rear offside wheel and the wheel arch
