I want to purchase a van but a few things dont make sense, can any body help pls

THE VW SYNCRO STORY – Simon Holloway writes that;
"Many different types of minibus versions were available, ranging from 8 to 12 seats. They were however only supplied with the 1.9 petrol or 1.6 diesel & turbo diesel engines & were not available as Syncro’s in the UK.
UK Supplied Caravelles were all fitted with 2.1 litre engines."
The van I am looking at has been professionally converted to a camper but started life as a 8 seater minibus. It was first registered in 1997 and has a 2.5 engine. Its registered as a VW Caravelle Syncro SW1.

Id love to get involved but Im a complete novice and the info above seems to contradict, also i cant find a price comparison. can any body advise please ??!!

Try posting up some pictures of it. Interior, engine, side window seals, etc etc etc

i dont have any pics but I could try to get some this week.

I never mentioned that it is a petrol engine.

Did a check and it was resprayed in 1998, if it was an inport I take it that it could be older than the first year of registration here suggests ??

Where is the van? There might be someone close who could have a look at it. Since it's a Syncro, I'd introduce yourself in the Syncro forum with a link to this thread. (They know more about Syncros so might be of more help)

this is not true syncros were available here and caravelles hadd all the engine options.

can you confirm your engine is in the back under the floor?

if yes then your van will be a south african example, it should be diifernt than uk vans in various ways, around the windows , dashboard , seats ect
it will still look like a brick tho!

Would agree, my Caravelle came with a 1.9DG from new.
