2 Front door rubbers have arrived . This might seem obvious but do I need to disconnect the pin for the door stay to fit the new rubber or is there a magic trick I should know about?

It's a 1 piece rubber, so yes, you need to remove the check-strap pin and slide the strap back to get the rubber in and just re-assemble it. If you've not already removed the old rubber, then there are about 3 little T pieces that go into the rubber and then locate in the door, along the front-most part of the rubber. These help locate the rubber correctly, so dont loose them. And its a good idea to re-glue it where necessary too.

I haven't removed the old ones yet, so are the 3 t-pieces removable from the old rubber? There is a series of small holes around the new rubber (bought from J.K.)

with regard to the pegs that hold the rubber in place, they are between the the 2 hinges, if your old rubbers are scrap then by all means rip them off but if they are useable to a lesser mortal who mayhap be financially challenged.lol then when you feel the peg .pull the seal down a touch and ease over one part of the peg anf lift and ease over the top, there is often one near the lock/striker mech'sm

I've got a few spare of those little plastic t-pieces if you need any Jake.

Had a quick check today and metalmickey you are correct. there was a t-piece in the rubber between the hinges so I'll remove that for the new rubber.

jake, there are usually 3 pegs between the hinges, you'll see the holes in the new rubbers,
