coil, and dizzy cap?

Can i have some help please as i'm not techy minded. can i put a flame thrower coil and pumped up dizzy on my t25 1983, and what are the techy advantages or problems cheers....vic!

In my own experience, 009 distributors (if thats what you're thinking of) are nowhere near as good as the original but acceptable if the original one is shot. Beefed up coils may help with the spark but none of this has any noticeable impact on power output. A progressive carb can make a difference but you'll consume more fuel too and just put extra stresses on a stock engine. The only real way is to play with the power curve itself ie different cam, bigger bores etc.
I have a lot of experience with the latter as I used to race-tune beetles.
E D I T:
Sadly parts for wedgies are not even in the same pricing structure, in part why folk fit Subura engines, V6's etc. If you have an Aircooled version your options are compounded by the lack of rad etc. That said, if someone could come up with a modified engine lid or slightly raised rear floor, theres a heck of a lot you can do with a type1 engine (beetle) as I mentioned here:

In general a Bosch Blue Coil is a reliable coil but I never liked 009 distributors and they don't quite match the needs of a wedgie engine. Mind you, with petrol continuing to rise in price, I think we wedgie owners have to look at alternative fuels more than ever.
