For anyone who is interested would definately recommend it apologies for the crap photos. Used the Subaru chargecooler with a Pace pump and rad with an AAZ have no problems with water temps water is luke warm at its hottest after 2-3 hour run. (Don't believe the hype about the pace pump and rad not being up to the job) in fact am a bit worried about engine temp being too low as water temp needle sits about half way between diode and White line all the time even had it idling for about 2-3 hours and only reached the diode.

Air filter moved above engine bay to live in the bottom of the westy cupboard

Air intake over the top of the chargecooler

From chargecooler to inlet manifold 70-51mm reducer 51mm 180 degree bend then 51-46mm reducer from turbo to Chargecooler 51mm flexible hosing to 45 degree aluminium bend to 51mm 45 degree silicone bend

Also made up two brackets to hold the chargecooler in place they are just L shaped and attach the the rear of the van just left of the engine hatch

Think about a 100 I seem to recall with clamps and all I think for the tdi conversions you use 38mm hoses for the tdi turbo according to the guy on the brickyard I bought some 38mm elbows, clamps and reducers due to this if you need them

the top link was broken.
does anyone know if a chargecooler would add anything to a non turbo 1y?
i had always assumed that it was just to cool the charge after it had picked up heat from a turbo but aidan got me thinking that it might be a good improvement on the 1y?

Can't see it making any difference as won't cool the air more than ambient temp better to install an air scoop to get more air into the engine ?

have you noticed a change since fitting it?
is it running cooler? have you noticed more power/torque?
And have you adjusted boost/fueling?
Only asking as i've just bought a chargecooler myself and wondering what to expect
