wonder if someone could help me please ? Took the van to busfreeze and back no probs drove to work just now and theres a loud tapping sound coming from the engine have noticed erratic tickover when cold is this related ? Thanks in advance

Telling us which engine would be helpful as the crystal ball is in for a polish.

Sounds like a classic drained tappet to me, does the noise go when warmed up thoroughly ?

Im not sure ian i only noticed it when i pulled up outside work its only 2 miles from my house so doesnt get chance to get warm if it is a tappet whats the cure ? Thanks jeff

When was the oil last changed ? 15/40w MINERAL oil ? Take the old girl on a good 20 minute run and see if it clears.

Thanks ian checked the oil halfway between the marks and black so i'll change oil and filter

4.5 litres of mineral 15/40 oil and Mann W719/12 filter
