diesel injector pump

on my injector pump pulley i have 2 holes same size as the locking peg 180 degrees apart,

does the pump complete its cycle in 180 degrees? have just fitted a new pump and cant get the engine to start

Hello,

the diesel pump should do a complete cycle in 360 degrees, same as the camshaft - I think one of the holes you're talking about is probably a bit bigger (as it is on mine), but a picture would be useful.

Also - have you reprimed the pump? They can be a nightmare to start if they are dry - priming the filter and the pump and sucking some through the pump from the return line can help a bit.

hi, thanks for the reply, but definately same size holes, the 1 i took off had 2 different sizes

pump and pulley came from 1.6 non turbo van engine same as mine

suppose i will have to try it in the other position :(

have fitted an inline hand pump between filter and pump as someone on here suggested a while back

and bled the injectors
