if a bus has 360mm from the center of the wheel for the bottom most edge of the wheel arch front and back, how much has it been lowered by
a friend has a bus, i've measured this distance, i'm trying to judge how much i want to lower my bus by, this one looks OK, but i feel i might want mine lower
so roughly is it 45mm, 60mm or 70mm
it's a '87 twin slider, with minimal weight in the back
any idea's

I'm looking at this as a maths challenge, I've no experience of lowering or highering buses but:

If the target distance is 360mm from hub to wheel arch, won't the amount you want to lower yours by be: (distance from your hub to wheel-arch) - (360)?

Do mechanics actually raising or lowering these buses use hub to wheelarch measurements? Knowing the state of my own arches, I'd prefer to use a better fixed and less bendy reference point - having said that, i can't think of one. I suppose they must.

Good luck

dink,
VANJAM WROTE

I'm looking at this as a maths challenge, I've no experience of lowering or highering buses but:

Me neither, but my '87 2.1 wasserboxer auto sleeper pop top with a complete camping interior and a BIG box of tools, is 395mm centre of hubs to lower side of wheel arches front and rear on the level in my garage this afternoon, and on standard springs, (one rear one recently changed.) Well in the last six years!!!

vanjam is dead right of course with the maths, but if you were asking what height a 'standard' one is ......................

it will also depend on how heavy your van is, if you have a full camper conversion it is heavier than moost etc. i had mine lowered 60mm but i couldn't even get my fingers between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch! 60mm if about right for lowering, less it just looks like there is a load of paving slabs in it, more and it hurts the drive, and bushes and stuff!!

took a tape measure to my bus, mines 420mm from wheel center to wheelarch, so i'm guessing it's been lowered by 60mm
they are similar age, simliar interior so i'd say similar weight
