Worrying Ethonol trend

Ethonol by stealth or perhaps it was publisized and knowone really understood the real consequences of adding this substance to our fuel.
The point is we are quick to attribute leaks to the age of our vehicles but there is definately another possibility for this apparent rise in fuel leak related problems.
Why should we be concerned: well Ethonol rots and corrodes just about everything, steal/brass/Aluminium/rubber so pretty much most of your fuel system....admittedly slowly but it it rots it all the same.
It's a fact that racers using both Ethanol and Methonol in there race bikes never leave the fuel in their tanks but drain it back into plastic containers after every meeting.
So why have the petrol companies introduced Ethonol into it's petrol formula's? from my understanding this is a Government pressure issue....Green/Bio fuel thing..I'm sure others out there could put a more politically correct slant on this one.
Petrol by it's very nature is a cocktail of different ingrediants, these formula's are forever changing but we all assume that they are always for the better...think again.
The worrying truth is..we are now having to deal with the consequences of both age and now Ethanol related leak issues.
