hi and welcome to the best van site!!
white smoke on start with petrol not necessarily a fault.
with the increase of moisture in the air this time of year, when the hot engine and exhaust are turned off and cools, the cooling sucks moist air into self which then condenses.
when next started and the exhaust gets heated this turns to steam, which is what you see. also I guess you park outside, not in gargage?
the downside of this is that its also what helps corrode exhaust systems from the inside! not much can be done to stop this though.
:D

Thank you that's great I only notice it when it's left on the drive ticking over and some times water is blown out the exhaust just a few drops ,steam and temp gauges are new to me and make me paranoid the temp gauge rarely gets to the led warning light not flashing before the fan cuts in .in the manual it's said any between the white areas is norm but most journeys ie 20-30 miles it stays in the first white area al most at the top but not quite out of it is this norm and is there a special coolant to use as I belive look after it and it will look after

the LED warning light in the instruments is a LOW water LEVEL warning, not a high temp warning.
fan cutting in may be normal in slow urban traffic, thats what its there for!
as to the temp needle position, others here have commented that these gauges can vary greatly between vehicles as their normal position.
However normal position is somewhere near mid point of the gauge and near the LED low level light.
coolants are needed to prevent internal corrosion of the engine in addition to antifreeze function. Important in these engines.
if you give your location someone may be prepared to give a second opinion.
