Which engine do i have?

Had my T25 less than a week and i'm already confused over the engine. Exhaust system fell off during the drive home but had my mate weld it back on. Started looking for replacement exhausts only to discover that i have an EMPI twin quiet pack on which appears to be an early style as in the wiki:
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Ex ... ems_Petrol
yet my bus is a 1989 F reg !!
Does this mean it's had a replacement engine at some point? How do i tell for sure?
thanks,

Letter prefix before engine number. On top of engine block to LHS of big sticky up tower thingy (stop me if I'm getting too technical

)

well engine is definitely a DG and exhaust is definitely early style which means all exhaust system must have been changed at some point.
my back boxes aren't going to last forever but if pipework is still ok, what other boxes can i have welded on to replace them? Beetle? Kawasaki?

lol

You see either systems will fit and its easier to from a late system to early
early systems are cheaper
one thing I would do is junk that empi pile off the engine asap
