Blue Hills campsite near St Agnes is open all year round - owners Gary & Lou are very 80-90 friendly. As for wild camping, Cape Cornwall (near St Just and Sennen); the road to St Just from St Ives has quite a few sleepy spots, as does the road from St Ives to Penzance. I'm sure there'll be others along with more suggestions.

Hope to be down there in a week or so ourselves, complete with surf boards and thermals!

This is between Praa Sands and Porthleven if there is surf on the south coast - genuine wild camping.
If you get down to Sennen then try Trevedra Farm although this is shut after half term I think.

Over the winter you can pretty much park up and sleep where-ever!
I have spent lots of winter nights at Putsborough beach carpark, no one disturbs you there, also anywhere on Marine drive in Woolacombe is pretty good.. if you drive down to the toilets and park up there you have a place to get changed, and also the reasonably unknown middle beach break.. It holds a pretty good wave there ;O)
You can also get away with parking up in the spaces opposite Ruda on the main road (right next to croyde beach)
so loads of options

Do you have to ask at the farm to use that spot in the photo? I know where it is, but I always assumed it was private.

We tend to go there out of season and if you turn up after the car park has emptied we've not had a problem. I'm not sure where you would go to ask.

Ah, it's actually Rinsey then. The next lane along is the one I was thinking of, that really is a wild camp, not a car park. Beautiful place though, great recommendation, thanks for that

Next lane east or west? Always on the lookout for new places!

We've free camped at porthtowan. There's a carpark opposite the shop. Great if you fancy a few beers in the blue bar, and the surf can be good too
