exhaust manifold

Can anyone tell me were i could get some manifold to down pipe studs please?I thought that these would be just normall M8 studs but seem to be M7 in thread.The ones that were in it were well passed it,so i heated them up and removed them and now cant get any.Just need them now to get the exhaust on and fired up after changing the engine over.By the way its a 1.6 non turbo diesel.Cheers Al.

Hello,

M7 is a '"bar-steward" size', as far as I know only used by Citroen and GM Opel.

If you can get a M8 'plug' tap(ie with a blunt end). then clean out the thread before inserting a new M8 stud.

Get proper studs, Stainless-Steel is not necessary

Wind in with 2 nuts, no compound, and don't force!!

Is it possible to tap a cast iron manifold?I thought it would not be possible as cast is very brittle.My only other option would be making up my own bolts with a die set.Any thoughts?Cheers Al.

I've recently had a new exhaust and had to replace the studs and I'd swear they were M8. Do different engines have different sized studs then?

I have to agree i was sure they were m8 but wont take a bolt,but a M7 tap goes down the thread must be a odd manifold.I think i will try another M8 tap tomorrow but the M7 was quite tight.But there again i have a stud with M7 on one side and M8 on the other side that came off part of the old engine when i swapped parts over.A bit of a quandry me thinks.Thanks for your time guys.
