I've had a quick search but can't find anything.

I was just wondering what sort of price a professional re-spray would be? I expect there are lots of variables, but if the bodywork is in good nick are you talking hundreds or thousands?

Definitely thousands.

depends on what you want, what lurks underneath, how far you want to take it. the variables are infinate. mike (metalmick) is a good one to give you a rough idea.

Have a decko at my 'van facelift' post below (or above). I guessed that various bits had been patched on my van over the years and I wanted them sorted out. Patches of filler, some rusty bits held together by paint, that kind of thing.

My initial quote for repair and respray was several grand, but as I get more done the greater the cost will eventually be. I am prepared for that. Others do it themselves including painting the van with a roller.

The problem with a 'respray' is that as soon as you start looking closely you discover more work needed. I can update you and others when mine is completed to give you a feel for what it might cost you.

Hi scottbott I am a bit slow covering this message.

Last week the body was getting top coats put on. The pop top was off getting its new canvas fitted. The doors have been sprayed and will be put back together and doors and parts are going to be put back together over the next few days. I am hoping to collect the van at the end of the week. I will post some photos up of the whole process once I have the disk from the restorers. I am getting stressy about it now because it has been so long. I keep buying bits for the van an bit like welcome home presents. I must calm down and be patient. Are you up for the Swanage meet?

If the van is rust free and fairly straight ie a few dints, and you want a solid pigment colour (no metallic) to cover the whole van including the door shuts and inside the van youll be looking at £4000 minimum. Its the sheer tie involved in the preperation that pushes the prices up. However if you just want the paint on the outside and not all the way around the inside of the doors and engine compartment it can be done for half that.

Once you get into hacking panels away and rust treatment, the cost goes up as it would with a complete bare metal respray.

If you need any info drop me a line and I can talk you through some options, at least that way you'll have a clue when paint shops (like me) attempt to blind you with science.

I might be wrong on this but I'm sure Skippy's Devon cost around £2,300 for the same (two tone too), and it looks fabulous.

I haven't got any thousands to spare at the moment so it's the roller for me, but at least I won't be as devastated if there are any little prangs, scrapes or rust spots as I can just sand them down and paint over them.

There are plenty, but they've got 60 reg plates on and are called T5s....and of course the budget would be stretched 10-fold.

i would shop around for the respray prices. i reckon you could get less than £2000 for a respray in and out. you maybe able to work a deal where you prep the inside which isnt too crucial and buy the panels needed so no maerk up.

My brother does them for 2000 ukp.
But he's on the IOM.
