That works out at just £22k for the vehicle in its current condition, which is very poor, then add to that shipping costs, the engine work, body work etc etc.

Still, being a 16" Syncro, I guess someone desperate enough will bite? Looks like it has electric mirrors too, not Syncro bar type.

The mirrors you refer to are LT or Tristar mirrors and not every Syncro came with them. As there were less than 20 made, a RHD 16" is as rare as hen's teeth ...... This is quite a significant vehicle in Syncroworld and its cheap!

I think it is around 2k which is cheap not 22k,

The last two .00 have a decimal point or equivalent of in rand.

Nope, a quarter of a million Rand works out at £20,400 or there abouts ( 1 GBP = 12.2531 ZAR )

I think its ironic that the one thing which makes this vehicle so rare, and therefore some would say, valuable... is also the one thing which seriously limits its market appeal. Its RHD, so youd expect it to go to either the UK, Austrialia or stay in SA, thats a pretty small market, and thats before you consider the cost of shipping and paying the import. The big money still seems to be in America, and I cant see them buying a RHD. So because of this, i think he will have to look really hard to find the next owner at that price.

Also rather dissappointed in the one dusty photo add.

that is my thoughts as well, but you forgot about japan, i dont know how the market is for t3's or syncros, but there is a huge air cooled following there, also british bikes fetch huge amounts of money there.

makes you wonder what the value of the 16inch doka and treka van are that live in oz?

neil

Unless its a RHD tristar!!

Here we go again. I don't think the value is that RHD are rare in themselves, the little extra you may pay is because its better to drive a RHD in a country that drives on the left. I know many on here swear blind that sitting on the left, on the left, makes no difference to safety or convenience but they are wrong!!

Having said that, People will always like rare things, and while the UK has one of the strongest, if not the strongest, VW scenes in the world. This could go to any collector anywhere.

Absolutely, quite interesting wasnt it.

Funny I was thinking about your tristar as I was writting that previous message. Its about the only recent example of what minted RHD syncro is worth. And that was already in the country and registered...

Its potentially a very special and dare I say unique machine.
Although having had a look at thesamba for the first time in months, I was suprised by the number of normal vehicles requesting stupid price tags.

Good luck to the seller, unfortunately for us, its the importing part which really jacks the price up as your buying from outside the EU... and thats not his problem.
