84 1.9 DG watercooled (not at the min) Transporter
OK so took the van with a temp issue to my mate the mechanic, he's not too clued up on t3's but doesn't charge much and is very trustworthy local too!
He's said it needs a new water pipe, but he' not sure where to buy it or the name of it. He described it as a metal pipe which bolts on underneath the alternator, its has the dipstick bracket fixed to it, the pipe goes to the thermostat housing, this metal pipe has an O-ring on one end which locates into the thermostat housing and a gasket on the other which goes to cylinder head. the pipes around 22mm Dia. He also asked to find out if I could get hold of a new thermostat housing as he thinks the bolts will break when he removes them, did mention heating it up to remove them but doesn't want to damage it. If so he could drill n tap some new ones. He said he doesn't want to run the van until he replaces the leaking pipe, but its defiantly "feck" and needs replacing.
