Going to my first Caravan Club site - bit scared..

Im a little concerned.

The Father in Law wanted us to join him on his annual weekend in Pembrey.

So he kindly joined us to the CC.

He has a big shiny Hymer.

We have a Tatty T25 + even tattier trailer, 2 kids and a bull terrier cross....

On the membership form I had to detail my 'outfit'. After realising this didnt mean flip flops shorts and a T shirt, I wandered what to put - Travelling Hillbillys would be best...

Then I recieved the welcome pack.... me and the misuss are now genuinely scared... Do I have to wear pastel T shirts, trianers and socks??

Will the curtains twitch like fury, is entering and exiting like a walk of shame over looked by 60 plate 4x4s??

I am pretty sure I wont be putting in the window sticker!

Hahaha this is brilliant, I was looking at the C&C club myself, after taking my grandad's advice who has a very similar vehicle to your father in Law. It seems ok if you are on the road and want to book something online spare of the moment...

With regards to how people will view your van...
My grandad thinks my van is ace, he said he stopped becoming camping when my Nan installed a TV and granite work tops in their mobile hotel.
In reality, the super show motor homes don't transpire as camping to me, more like travelling. So the dream of being on the road and camping near lakes or on beaches, isn’t really a reality for the massive homes.
It is for the smaller, more manoeuvrable vans, that's why I have a cheeky grin when I suggest a family wild camping session in the mountains, my Dad and Grandad both would have to squeeze into the syncro and make do with vodka for mouthwash

Hiya, we are a long time member of the C&CC and are pretty normal (or at least thats what we think :D )

In 20 odd years only had 2 bad experiences (1 grumpy warden, and 1 noisy drunk 2xcouples in tent next door - warden intervened and they were thrown off site in the morning!) have always used club sites in everything from a 2 man tent in the back of the car when we were first married, frame tents etc with the kids from 6 months old, trailer tent, caravan and now T25!!

Sites are great, wardens are great, absolutely no snobbery, all sorts and very friendly. Not the sort of places that have night clubs and bars on site though so if that is your thing be aware.

Now the Caravan club......... that is another matter - also a recent member of that and they are a little different

It is all true. the C&CC are great. The big book of sites is great for working out where you are going next when you are touring around. We personally like the little sites with the scant facilities, but usually stop on a club site every four of five stops just to spoil ourselves. They have great facilities and are anything but snobby.

The Caravan Club, on the other hand, is all a bit high brow, at least that's been my experience!

Enjoy yourselves :ok

I've been a member for a couple of years and have stayed at some great sites for very reasonable rates. I can identify with the above photo but even though I stuck out like a sore thumb (if sore thumbs were brown) I've never felt unwelcome.

It was fine, and did a breakfast for 99p!! Lol
Quiet on the site, but a lively club house on the oustskirts, only negative, the lady in the caravan next to us was on her 2nd warning, and was told if she got a third she would need to leave the site:
5yr old was throwing a ball up in the air and catching it (beach ball type, going up a couple of feet), was told, no ball games - 1st warning
They all went swimming, and she left a towel on a rope from the awning, told no washing to be hung out, - 2nd warning.

Bit harsh methinks.

But for us, it was only a place to park the van and sleep while we visited Stratford.

What was the name of the site as never had any probs on any c&cc sites with ball games drying towels etc always friendly and family friendly and dog friendly :ok

And dont forget, no gazebos, no windbreakers, no disposable BBQ, keep yer dogs on a lead at all times.

Oh forgot the one about no sign written vehicles, same lady, her husband pulled the caravan onto the site with his car that had his name and phone number on the door, and "Electrician". He was told he couldnt park it on the site so after dropping caravan off he had to go park somewhere else :run

we have been in both clubs over the years. This year we have only done Caravan Club Sites. I can honestly say you cannot fault their sites. Yes there are the keep up with the Jones's caravananners with every conceivable add on and gadget, but it gives hours of entertainment watching the hours it takes them to set up and pack up.

People we have met on the sites have been very friendly and there has been some interest in our sheddy old van. We have not been on a CC site this year where we have been the only ageing VW either, there have been other T25's, Bays and splities on every site that we have been on.

I would not stereotype either club.
