Loud 'Snapping' sound when reversing on full lock???

Have noticed a very loud 'snapping' sound coming from somewhere on my front suspension (I thought anti roll bar area) when right hand down on full lock in reverse. Doesnt happen every time but the last time it happened, I was sure something had actually snapped! Cant see anything.
Any ideas? Please dont say that the steering rack is on its way???

Thanks anyone... :ok

No sorry guys....none of above! Will grease cv though just in case. It is a diffinate clunk just when you get to full lock. But nothing seems to have snapped under there! Thanks for help though.

CV joints dry or dead. Mine does it on a hard rh turn under load, but not on a trailing throttle.
#clonk clonk clonk# once per rev of a wheel, I just don't know which one!
Having said that I have been told that a worn out propshaft u/j will do something similar, but not sure in my case.

You need someone (yourself) walking alongside the truck when it does it, to identify the exact area (centre > thus diff) or wheel (joint)..

Broken drop link is more random and inconsistent. If it always does it then I'd guess the outer CV. If its pax side then have door open and lean down near wheel as someone reverses on full lock. I'm sure you can find a good enough hand-hold

If its not the front outer CV then it might be the front UJ on the prop?

Thanks for suggestions guys. Have just had rear uj on the prop replaced....the shock has probably sent this one on the front the same way!! I might be wrong but the van does look like it is sitting lower on the side that it goes 'clonk'. Also the front tyre is wearing on the outer edge. I have had all the tracking, camber etc etc done, but it still continues to wear?
I have replaced the anti roll bar drop link arm bushes for some polly ones. (Not the easiest to get in!!!)
Front springs and shocks also all replaced.

Any ideas?

Have a look at the inner lower rubber bush on the front suspension. Had a similar thing on mine before changing bushes where the control arm was hitting the front subframe on full lock, due to worn bush.

To what specs? Who did it? Did you get a print out of how 'bob on' or not they got it?

Got all tracking done at VW dealership. They are the only ones set up to do the camber adjustment.
