Haven't done it myself but maybe look at the mudflap bits that the rally boys use e.g

Yes, i made a set for the front. It was a rather quick job with little attention to detail, but they a rough look that matched the rest of the car so i was happy. I used a truck mudflap i found and cut it in half, one half per side. I riveted the flaps to the back of the wheel well, with some of the leftover pieces between the body and the flap to make them clear the edge at the bottom of the crossmember. They went pretty high inside the panel so the upper rivets were visible on the inside of the van. If i had done it again i would have made the "overlap" over the panel shorter to avoid that (staying on the crossmemer itself), and made a bracket from the bottom of the body panel to the crossmember to stiffen it up a little. i would also try to attach the "ear" on the outside of the body in some way, it made some wear marks in the paint from moving around. I think a softer rubber material would also be god, these were some kind of plastic i think and pretty stiff.
I don't have any good picks (forgot to take some and that syncro is long gone now) but here is the best i could find, crappy quality thought.

Why is it that this forum hates picasa

It works fine everywhere else
Hope this helps!

One of the french Syncro couple who came over to Eire had some handmade mud flaps, which were rather distinctive. Oversized, plus chains to hold them rearwards so they wouldn't catch when reversing. I don't have pics sorry.

thank's for that guy's
i have some rubber an im gona have a go, just not sure about fixing's, i was thinking i may need to use something to hold them back as the rubber is quite flexible!
i like the big rally style look but i want to protect the body as much as i can, going to use some amoured vinyl on the arch's to repel stone chip's etc
