hi guys,
ive recently bought myself a t25 with a air cooled 1.9 petrol engine,
i'd like to convert her to a diesel, but i dont know much about this, or what would be best to do....?
i thought about the 1.6 with a turbo, is this my best option, or is there something more modern that would be better?
i want it to have good fuel economy , as i plan to drive around europe for a year in her, so doing alot of miles.
im new to the vw game, ive always had mini's ad its time for something different. hope someone out there can help me out,

Hello,

1.9s are watercooled - if it's Aircooled then you'll have to fit the pipes and radiator up front, and replace the front panel etc... converting to diesel requires sump, mounts, bellhousing and then if you want to do it properly glow plug electrics etc... quite a bit of work anyway.

Have a look at the first two sticky posts on this forum, or look in the wiki for a whole host of options and expertise. Look at the other LPGable petrol options too like the 2E conversion...

i thought about lpg but think diesel would be best really.

ive heard a few horror stories about the 1.6 engines blowing up,
is this true of the 1.6 turbos aswel, dont wana fork out a load of money on it if its gona blow up just down the line,
gona be doing alooooooot of miles
