hi all, awesome place better than the rest of the world.
camp where u want no national trust trust banging on your window at 8 in the morning insisting u can't camp here !!!
surrounded by folk that are happy with life and just get on with it !!!
in fact if the rest of the world had there outlook upon life [ live and let live] the world would be a better place.
we spent 3 weeks in Scotland this easter .
no passport no rip off prices no people for miles beaches better than the med .
simply the best fish and chips in the world for those food junkies, the best deep fried pizza or mars bars in the in the universe .
I have been many places in my life . but have not been anywhere so easy going as as Scotland,
and contrary to common belief the scottish people are very friendly.

And you have just realised this?

Everything you say is true but keep it to yourself, we don't want people flocking up here to see what its all about!

I've spent a lot of time in Scotland and wholeheartedly agree. Although some of the cities and towns are a bit grim, but the same could be said of anywhere.

I have upon times been the subject in a lot of anti English vocal batterings, but all in good fun and never had any problems at all. Especially when I point out my Irish surname and that my ancesters were Celts too.

This is great to read, I have never been Scotland and it sounds like my ideal country!

I was always concerned an Englishman might not get the warmest welcome, judging on the banter I have with the Scotts in the office. I will deffinately make sure a week in Scotland occurs, possibly during the winter snow fall, I imagine it would look great then

Couldn't agree more,fantastic place,the scenery is breathtaking when you get up in the highlands,we go every year but as said above,don't tell everyone or else it will get ruined for us lot lol.

Agree. Only downside is midges but hey "scottish wine" soon makes you forget them!

I remember when we toured Scotland in January In 2008 for two weeks, we had a 2wd hightop home brew camper back then and my son Isaac had just turned two. Boy were the nights long in the winter right up North Funnily enough during that trip is when we realized if we were going to do anything like this and be self sufficient for winter wild camping when its really cold we would need a different van. Thats when I started to show interest in Syncro's and realized LPG is a pain in the ar5e. We havnt look back since....

I just asked my Mrs if she wanted to go back in our Westfalia Syncro 4x4 this winter, She said "NO WAY, WE ARE GOING TO PORTUGAL!!!!!!"

It is a fantastic place for sure. You can stay over night is some stunning places with views to die for ALL FREE!
The midge in the west during the summer months are not good but they did defeat the Romans in the end!
The wild life all year round is stunning be it on land, in the air or afloat something for everyone.
Fishing is great both fresh and salty so give it a go, try your hand on the slopes during the winter or even MAY as we did this year.
There are some sites open all year with hook up if you need it.

I have spent all my life here and its still not long enough to see and do it all.

Scotland is the reason i have my bus.

New Aberdour beach, between Fraserurgh and Inverness, that whole coast up there is beautiful with lots of fantastic freeby spots to park up.
