Tickover stalling

Occasional rough running on tickover and stalling at lights etc. Noticed that hum from Idle control valve had stopped. Changed it for a new one as 24years old? but still not working. checked continuity of the wiring to the ICU and white is OK to no 4 but no continuity from yellow to no 11. Is best to cut into loom close to plug and replace the yellow wire or is there something I have not thought of. According to bentley those two go directly to the ucu plug but??? Glad for any input

I would try bypassing the whole idle stabilisation thing as per Haynes for setting the timing. See if that improves. Should run fine like that, but wont adjust the revs for power steering, high alternator output etc.
Check plug leads, and usual service items. See if one spark plug is a different colour to the others pointing to the problem. Ie poor lead.
You could see if the AFM output is ok ar tickover by checking the 5v output like this.

After further perusal of bentley and confusing the icu with the ecu, I think it may be the relay supplying the ic valve. Will check tomorrow.
