Billy739 has made one! just one thing you do have to bear in mind that actually making a trailer out of half a car is illegal! I have a half polo trailer , I have been stopped by the police towing it , but once they saw how over engineered I had made it he was happy, But half a t3 is likely to be over 750kg which you then run into the problems of making it braked , then you have to have over run brakes!!!!
So not as simples as cut weld and tow!

Could you explain *why* it is illegal? Because I don't see how it is.

The issue of weight is a fairly serious one though - you are going to end up with quite a heavy trailer, certainly heavy enough for it to need to be braked, and probably heavy enough to limit it's actual usefulness depending how old you are - if you got your licence post-1997, and assuming you're going to be towing it behind a T25 with a MAM of about 2.5t, you've only got scope to drag a 1t trailer behind it. I could see a properly-made 'half a T25' trailer being the best part of a ton empty. So you'll have a nice looking trailer but you can't carry anything in it :D

Because any idiot can nip to Halfords and buy a inadequate stick/mig welder and no understanding of vehicles and blob together a death trap that on a busy Motorway breaking up would make a rather large accident! Hence ITs illegal! Under the same heading yes you can make your own trailer but the police can stop and inpound it if they think it isnt upto spec!

Plus remember over 750kg IT MUST BE BRAKED, and those brakes have to be over run style to enable the trailer to be reversed with out the brakes coming on!

i have made 2 , about to make a 3rd possibly with a crew cab rear bed!

what would you like to know?

there are other members who have used a front and rear so you only use 1 van

i prefered the neatness of the 2 rear ends , 2 opening tail gates ect

just sold my original one , check this out.....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230666038301" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

costs are the main thing , but i have just sold another one which was the 2 ends welded together , lights /brakes /glass - ready to tow but needs body prepping/painting and interior , that was 800£

remember a rolling van shell is worth around £400 scrap so its not going to be cheap!
