Big thumbs up for Durdle Door campsite. Great location and facilities. Wouldnt go in peak season though as its bloody expensive, £16 a night right now or £20 with hook up.
Few dubs there too

We stayed there a couple of years ago in the dead of winter. Brilliant, what a piece of coast.

Just got back from Kimmeridge Bay which is just down the road from durdle door. There is a small layby on the way down the hill into the village. We stayed in it last night along with another T25 and a couple of T3. A great spot and its free.

We camped in the wooded area and it was a bit gloomy. We didn't much care for the sloped non-hookup area.
Like you say the site itself is a rip off but the coast is lovely as is the local pub (the one furthest from the cove) and it's 'sharps own' ale

Hi Steve T, love the pics, agree with Cruz about the wooded area being gloomy, hook up area next to it is good though, as is the "Boondoggle" in the bar

We stayed on pitch 'T3'

Which after some heavy rain completely flooded. The pitches under the trees were also a mud bath and this was in August
Wouldn't go back, just too expensive..

Expensive? Those prices seem the norm, but yep still expensive for just parking up and a shower. Camping has got expensive in the UK. Hurray for proper camping !

Couldnt agree more, and to be honest when I stay on sites that are very well equipped for silly money, I cant help feeling that actually the experience is no different to the 100s of small sites ive stayed on for less than a tenner. The shower is not as posh, but you are clean!
There are still loads and loads of sites like this which offer a bit more than wild camping (which I need with the kids in tow). However they are often not on the tinterweb.
We sniff them out as we travel (dont like staying more than 2-3 nights anywhere).
Best rule of thumb is ignore brown tourist signs for camping. Always follow homemade signs and signs for pub camping. You find some gems and weve never been stumped for a night. (been close a few times though!)

You are a bit like me - I get itchy feet and want to explore somewhere else.
