Recently replaced my front pads as mot station said that one side had seized but they had managed to free it!! Well a day after the mot it was pulling violently to one side. On inspection I found it still siezed and with no material left on the pad .. Hence me changing them. But after fitting and chipping off great piles of corrosion all seemed well until just recently when there is that friction material smell and one hot wheel. So took it all apart wire brushed, filed and generally cleaned it up and copper slipped around but it's still the same!!!! Is there anything that could cause the caliper to binde as it all seems free. I did have to push the piston back loads but it wasn't a problem...

Sounds like the pads are sticking to the calipers and not sliding freely. Either sort out all the crap that is preventing the pads from moving or replace the calipers.

quite often rust builds up in the caliper and effectivly tightens itself around the piston.

if you pop the piston out, remove the pressure seal gently and then try and put the piston back in you`ll probally find it`s still tight.

above the line of the seal clean the rust away so that piston slides in and out freely. then re assemble the caliper.

alternativly get a pair of new calipers from baxter, fit and forget.

Pads are perfectly free in the caliper, the sliders are lovely and greased does this just mean the the callipers are pump!!!

Possibly but remember they are 24 years old!!

If your hydraulic hoses are in the process of failing they can sometimes do this, acting like a one-way valve as the inner liner collapses under pressure due to a split between the layers. It may be why you can push the piston back easily, but shows the symptoms of siezing.

You beat me to that one! Ive come across this a couple of times.

Just went through mot.... And I'm sure the hoses arn't so old... Thanks
