The clutch hs done 40k miles

I have been told the biting point is high (you never realise with only your own van as reference) and during a recent trip to Wales it felt like it was 'missing' when we were climbing steep hills in 2nd and 3rd. Possibly the clutch slipping when worn?????

Not being mechanically minded are these signs that the clutch is worn and will need replaceing soon?

Are there any tests I can do to check if it is slipping?

That sounds like it's on the way out. But it should have lasted more than 40,000.

Mine is the same, very high biting point and if I put any pressure on the pedal the clutch slips.

My bite is half way along the pedal travel.

the old worn clutch was the same.
It seems to me if the pressure plate is poor quality then the bite could vary.
Or the release mechanism is worn

this lead to me to thinking about my clutch.

The biting point on my mine seems quite low i.e. you don't have to lift your foot very far off the pedal before it engages. is this ok?

Thing is they all vary a little because of the mechanism
A worn clutch is not just the friction plate, friction plates last for many thousands of miles if you don't ride them, in fact the friction plate wouldn't be transmitted to the pedal much in my opinion.

What wears out is the whole mechanism that makes it work, from the pedal to the pressure plate.
