Engine Cover Prop/Hinge Modification?

Recently whilst working on my engine servicing it, I couldn't help but feel I was missing something each and every time I opened the engine cover.

When I open the engine cover and push is back, it keeps on falling onto the engine seal rubber, which will no doubt damage it over time, which got me thinking.

Am I missing a engine lid/cover prop bar thing? Or any type of hinge brackets for the two lugs?

I know it's easy to just remove the lid altogether, and put it on the floor, but was wondering what you guys do? Have you a modification that allows easy inspection of your engine without the risk of damaging your engine lid seal rubber?

Hope this makes sense?

Your post does make sense.
I simply remove the cover and put it on the floor.

I don't go in there very often so don't really need a prop, but I can see your point.

Glad it makes sense :D

I was just wondering if I was missing anything you see, because as it is, its kind of a silly design, and a couple of times the cover slid and landed on the engine, but I guess its my own fault, should just take it off when working on the engine.
