Hi.Ive got a bit of engine judder when setting off in 1st,<,and in reverse>.The 4 engine mount rubbers seem ok,but theres a bit of play on the large round bush inthe mounting bracket at the front of the gearbox.Does anyone know how much play is ok,or the best way to check it properly.

If your engine mounts are original I doubt they are as good as new
even if they look ok
new rubbers are cheap and available from brickwerks
Clutch judder is caused by engine oil or gearbox oil contaminating the flywheel.

It can be the front nose gearbox mount too for clutch judder.

hang fire as brickwerks are going to be road testing their gearbox mount poly bushes ready for sale on the webshop
No need to replace the whole mount then, just the rubber

interestingly enough about 15 years ago i ordered and received a new mount rubber
it had to be pressed into the main housing after pressing out the old, and it was about £28 and was for the larger type.
never fitted it and still have it in the box!
was from euro car parts, about the time they were inventing themselves in england!
much cheaper than the £140 odd the mount is from vw!

Does it seem to get better the longer you drive it?

Does this mean the old flexi rubber is removed from the sleeve then the poly bush is pushed in?.
