ENGINE GOES BEFORE VANFEST

Hi all, need some help, van passed mot after major welding works, all seemed good ready for vanfest then, clouds of white smoke out of exhausts, engine loses power and stops. Looked at engine and oil has gone into the air filter. various drips of oil from under van. Towed home and cried lol! Is it the head gasket or is it the water jacket seals. I have a 1984 transporter van converted into a camper. Need help please. had some problems in the past with engine losing power and cutting out but nothing like this. Should i persevere and get it fixed, or look for a new engine? where from? what type? replies and help please!

We need to know what engine. You cannot be sure as you say is it the Head gasket or water jacket seal. It's has one or the other fitted but my crystal ball is currently on charge so need more info.
