diesel glow plug dash light issue?

1.6 td 1992 van. The diesel glow plug light stays permanently lit (a dull glow) any ideas? cheers jes

My first step would be to check voltage to the plugs once it's started, No voltage will prove the relay is working and some breathing space to get it fixed, after which I would leave those cleverer than I to reply and figure out the control circuitry.
