Hesitation!

We have a 1984 1.9 DG with a Pierberg 2E carb. As you drive the camper, it has a hesitation. It only really goes if you press the pedal right down, otherwise the seems to be nothing. Being as it is a twin choke carb, it seems that only one is working? As a result, we are only getting 18mpg

Any help would be much appreciated!

well if your accelerator pump works OK then you have an air leak on the induction side.
usual suspects are..
vacuum hoses to and from the distributor
vacuum hoses to and from the air filter housing
Brake servo vacuum pipe off the inlet manifold
Split gasket(s)
Choke pull down unit diaphragm split
