Yeah spent 3 nights this summer on Garrett Lane, Earlsfield. Was really noisy and I'm glad the nippers slept in sister's house as it would have been unbearable with the pop top up. I know Earlsfield isn't Central London, but it's near enough. We had the thermo blinds up and had no problems.

Depending on what your plans are, there is a campsite inside the M25 at Walton on Thames, has no facilities and you need to be a member of the Camping and caravanning club. If this is no good then you'll have to forgive me I have never been to London and don't plan on heading there any time soon. I am a member of the c and cc though so if you want to borrow my cards then PM.

Yep, done it loads of different places. Also lived in my van for 3-4 months in south west London as well.

Just a bit of sense where you park and not being mega obvious, also check parking restrictions and proximity to pubs, quiet side streets, or some places down by the Thames a little bit out of central town can be pretty nice and quiet!

Not tried Londinium before, but stopped in the centre of Bath last week, stopped in Stratford, Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Birmingham suburbs so the capital should be possible.

If you want to park in london, pick a Saturday night and then you can park just about anywhere in the centre as there are only a very few parking restrictions on a sunday...its perfectly feasible to park in Chelsea, Kensington, Knightsbridge etc..so long as you park in a Garden Square with residents parking,,,[check the signs]
The most important thing is to keep a low profile...Keep your poptop down , pull your curtains before you park [no not the front one silly do them after you park] then get out and go to the museums or what ever your going to do,,then after your day of culture, come back to the van as quietly as you can and just go to bed,,,,don't spend all night opening the sliding door or playing AC/DC on your stereo.. the trick is, make your van look like its just parked there as if you are visiting a friend, so no light [or very little] no water running out the bottom, and as said before,,no loud music and drunken singing. Dont forget to tell the kids its a secret mission and everyone has to keep quiet
There is very little chance of anyone asking you to go away or complain so long as you only stay the night and don't park outside someones house. There are lots of street that have offices and hospitals that don't open on Saturdays and Sunday so pick a parking spot [meter or residents parking that don't operate on Sundays,,then you can have a lie in] and no congestion charge on the weekend

PS
I park my van in the street and have done for close on 10 years with all the curtains pulled and no one have ever asked me if I, or anyone for that matter is sleeping in the van

PPS

Go to Google earth and punch in 46 queen's gate gardens kensingtons and go to street view and you can park opposite the house..you will be 5 minute walk to the history museum and 15 minute walk from Hyde Park, Harrods, Kings road Chelsea and most of the other places of interest

Never tried in central London but did in Bristol. parked near hosp so could use the bogs did get some drunken tart banging on the van, think she was just showing the love. Deep growl from himself sent her skittering off! Now Eastbourne that was noisy!
