Evening all, 2.0 A/C headache here...

If the electric wire to the right hand carb was disconnected entirely (or broken off in my case) would this be choke "on" or choke "off"? I'm thinking choke on as it would have no link to the thermostat?

Its running like a dream at the moment, but very rich and the garage have left this disconnected? I'm thinking choke off would greatly improve my mpg!

Any advice gratefully recieved!

If the electric choke unit is disconnected the choke will stay on. That said it will probably get warmed up a bit and thus turn off a bit, but it is most unlikely it will get hot enough to turn right off, and it will take forever to do even that. It will likely tick over rather high and run rich on that side. You could set the choke unit on that side to do nothing of course, but starting will be harder and it will probably be horrible to drive until it's hot.

When you say "broken off", do you mean the spade connection on the choke unit is broken off? Assuming yes, then if you're careful you can solder a wire onto the remains of the terminal and crimp a spade connector onto that to re-connect the choke, (one of mine was broken off when I got the van, this is how I fixed it).

Thanks for the info! Yeah it had been soldered on by the previous owner as the spade had broken off.. I'll re solder it and see how it goes!
