Hi,

Any recommendations for a Rock and Roll bed? I understand the situation with crash testing etc, however due to the price of them, and the fact that anyone will seldom be travelling in the rear, i have ruled those out and I have narrowed down my search thus far to 3 options (i do however plan to install lap belts for the occassions when somebody might be travelling in the rear):

They are all around the same money, and was just wondering the pros and cons of each, should any readers of this post own one of them. I understand that for the Blubird version, i would need to have a shallow platform built over the engine bay so it is all level when in bed form. Is this the same for all of them? any tips, advice, knowledge appreciated. Should it make any difference, mine is a LHD.

I can only go off the bluebird one I have and you do need to contruct a platform over the engine bay at the seat is designed for a T2 which has a higher engine bay. Mine is bolted to the chassis with spreader plates and will go nowhere in an accident.

I made my own engine bay box which wasn't hard seeing as B&Q and woodmerchants will cut wood to exact lengths

I have seen the volswares one at a show and I didn't like the look of its construction

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY THE JUST KAMPERS BED! Sorry to shout but I can not stress enough just how bad it is and at £299 it's an expensive disgrace.
firstly, because it's adjustable, it's not rigid. At no point are you able to make it rigid (without extra welding).
They also sent me the wrong part with the bed on a Thursday and said they couldn't get a replacement out 'til Monday!
My holiday was supposed to start on Saturday so I had to drive 60 miles to pick it up I was compensated with an Outwell flatpack BBQ
To top it all off the stoppers/catches whatever they're called, that stop the seat from sliding back are starting to crack around the weld. Basically it's a death trap and it's coming out of my van asap and getting sent straight back to justScamers

Thanks guys. Think i'll be swerving the just kampers one for sure! anyone have an opinion on the volkswares bed?
