bike carrier for your syncro

After a year of nagging, the time to get a bike carrier has arrived
As usual for me, i'm looking at very nice and very expensive options like this http://www.discountramps.com/piggyback-bicycle-rack.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; mounted with this type of hitch http://burleysmotorsports.com/index.php ... ucts_id=32" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (dont know yet whether this will fit syncro, as towbars are different? but i've emailed him)
but i like the idea of that kind of hitch, can they be got in the UK?
What other options are there for a syncro with tyre carrier, do the normal towbar ones fit? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165477" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or do they foul the spare wheel?
I know you can get ones that hang off the spare wheel, but i worry that the weight has been moved way out past where the brackets were designed for.
Has anyone used this firm? Seems good in principle, but looks a bit DIY http://www.bak-rak.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So come on people, what do you do?
Oh yes, fiamma/paulchen won't fit due having ladder on tailgate

Hi Lloyd,

I use one of these for my three bikes (also available for 2 bikes).

Simple to assemble and includes lights. The trick is to put the rear wheel of the first bike where the spare is and alternate the other two, so bikes 1 and 3 with handlebars away from spare.

I use a maxxraxx carrier, it fits to the tow bar plate and its the one for 4wd vehicles with a cranked upright to allow for the spare wheel. It also hinges down so yu can open the tailgate etc.
Got it from e bay - look for the 4wd version. Also takes upto four bikes. Had 4years now, no problems.

Strange? My tow ball is fixed with four bolts, tightly spaced. Going by the rack I have on the other car, the type that bolts behind bolt spacing are wrong

That's the kind of thing I'm hoping to get, does yours clamp on the tow ball?
So are USA style ones ok to use though? As for a change Gowestys version of the burley one is half the price, but I like how the burley one sits a lot higher

Check out this one which would be favourite if money was no object and I could afford the import duty. It just kills two birds with one tailgate - you'll see what I mean!

you may have a west toe bar which has an odd bolt spacing on there hitch. and like nothing else that i have seen. would not take much to mod it too the more normal bolt pattern. but the hitch was designed for syncros with the swan nacked hitch that dose not act like a plough off road.

Yep, I like his stuff. Don't like the idea of taking the wheels off every time though.
Have you seen his front mounted bike carrier?

Yes it clamps onto the tow ball. American tow balls are 2" not 50mm and a Syncro tow bar is unique to a Syncro, made by Westfalia and the hitch bolts on with the 4 bolts
