Tap/pump wiring

Hi! We are new to the forum and club, just bought a 1984 Holdsworth pop top. It has no sink/tap so we are fitting one. There is a pump on board wired to the zig unit, but on a direct feed. As the tap has a microswitch, do i need to have a relay in the system or is it ok to use the tap microswitch to break the 12v feed?
Any help much appreciated!

Depends on the power of the pump. To save the microswitch it is usually best to use a relay as the power handling capabilities of the switch isn't usually known.

On our Westy, there's no relay - the pump pulls 25w, so only 2A. No problem to go direct.

Thanks for the help!
