You need to check it has got its own internal software for sending e-mail alerts etc unless you plan on leaving it hooked-up to a running PC as well as a router. I've got a D-Link camera that can be set up to use a static IP address using the free dynDNS software so I can log into it using any PC to see if the van is where I left it. I don't use the motion detection, photo capture and e-mail warnings etc because it needs a PC to be running the software to work.

Wont stop any one knicking it you will just have a video of some hooded tosser. If its night you need an ir flood light and a true ir capable camera (not one that just goes b+w and cranks up the gain for a grainy image. Clever route my be to do wireless ip and mount above interior mirrror hoody must show his face to drive it off and smaller area to light with ir.

Heres some more.

Here here :!:

We had clear footage from the pub across the roads camera (when we lived in Chester) of some tosser jumping up and down on the roof of Gills Scirocco, but it was dark and you could not see his face clearly enough to be any use to the police = VERY frustrating

That is carried out by the pc software usually. You can then blank out the bush that waves in the garden and so on.
To me it's no hassle to leave a computer running continuously. I might restart my computer once a month if that. I have found that the wireless ones tend to be inferior picture compared to using wired ones.
8 camera version (16 if you don't use high definition):
network, alarm and relay, ptz and motion, email and sms, and so on

I fitted one inside the van around three years ago. You soon get bored with it and creeping paranoia can set in. Not worth the hassle unless you have really good reasons to watch covertly.
