Rear Bearing problem

Hi all
I have 1.6 N/A Diesel and am about to put the van through its MOT! While checking the breaks I found one of the rear wheel bearings seems to be looser than the other, one side showed no play the other rocked slightly when jacked and rocking at the 12 and 6 position any other position no play at all. I replaced the bearing set with one purchased from Brickwerks (great service arrived the next day!) it all went together fine, good tight fit on all bearings races. greased the hub up refitted everything and re torqued the hub nut and replaced the wheel, all going great until I tested again with the wheel refitted, play was still there not as bad as before but there! my question is I know the bearings are good so how bad does the play have to be before its classed as a fail? :?:

new ,cold, there is play upto a couple of mm in the 12 and 6 position but virtually none noticeable in the 9 and 3 position, inner bearing is a c3 grind designed to run warm, take it on a run before mot, if you have more play than this then it'll be the housing's worn - did you use bearing fit ?

Cheers for the info Aidan I did not use bearing fit as the bearing fit into housing seemed fine you are right there is no noticeable play in the 9 and 3 position and a couple in the 12 and 6 position is it worth me striping out the bearing and trying bearing fit? and where can I get said stuff?

bearing fit, locktite various, other brands available, ebay, or your local bearing supplier, worth doing, normal practice, but probably not worth redoing the job now as you'd need to de-grease it and given you've just filled it all with nice clean grease, and you could have to replace the seals too
