Empty panel van will carry the slates but how heavy are you..?

Easy.
It certainly won't fall apart anyway. I've driven a T25 with a trailer on the back and a load of stone chippings in the van and on the trailer onto a quarry weighbridge and seen the readout spin up to 5,800kg. At this point I got out of the drivers seat and into the passenger side, and I can neither confirm or deny that someone else may have driven it from Birmingham to Cheltenham.
I'm not suggesting you try this, it's all manner of silly as well as illegal, just saying you've got to try *quite* hard to break one.
800kg of slates will be no bother at all - as above, it's within the payload of the vehicle.
