Early Beetle Steering wheel on T25?

Has anyone ever tried this? I've seen a couple of T25's with a Beetle/T2 steering wheel and it looks so retro 
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on it as i've not got access to a Beetle or T2 to look at.
