Hi we have a B reg 1984 T25 Petrol. The dashpod has broken 3 of its mounts and as a result of this it has broken the circuit board. This has resulted in the temp. gauge and oil light not working. It says 805 in small numbers on the speedo, i have been told we need this number to source the correct part. The garage tell us we need a replacement speedo head and that these are no longer made, so to try and source secondhand (no luck so far!). He said we do not need the plastic casing. A couple of questions! are these still made as he said it is a common fault so can't see why they are not, has anyone any ideas where to get the part or have one for sale? Thanks in anticipation!

Around '84 a number of changes were made regards the Instrument housing. The first major change can be identified by the location and the way the edge connector is mounted on the rear of the housing. There were a number of other changes so it may be best to post a picture of the rear of your dashboard so that it can be recognised as to the type you need.

When you say the PCB is broken and the housing is damaged, are you looking for a complete replacement or just the membrane PCB as it seems from your post that the garage are saying you only need a replacement membrane PCB?

Sourcing a good second hand one is usually through VW second hand specialists, EBAY, or posting an advertisement in the clubs 'Wanted' section.
