Hi all hope someone can help . when my engine is warm enough not to need the glow plugs its hard to start in the winter it starts first time all the time when the glow plug light is on . thanks mac

I had this issue with mine when i bought it. After i fitted a new cambelt and timed the fuel pump correctly (using DTI gauge), mine has been fine ever since.

My JX has this problem too. I have had the pump timed correctly but the warm starting issue did not go away. I find that if you pull out the cold start lever (advancing the pump) it will start fine when hot without glow plugs. I do this and have got used to living with it. Would love to know how to fix it. I am beginning to think knackered injectors or bad glow plug electrics. I don't want to be thinking of an old tired injection pump as repairing/replacing the pump costs money!

Hi been looking into it on another site there seems to be an electrical mod were the glow plugs always come on .could this be risky

You can wire in a timed relay to work the glow plugs when the vehicle temperature is hot (only for approx 2-3 secs). I'm sure there's a suitable run through on here somewhere.

Put a 470ohm resistor in series with the temperature sender in the back of the cylinder head. That will give you 3 or 4 seconds of glow even when hot, with no risk of damage etc. But there's obviously some kind of more basic problem which needs to be sorted.
