We took our syncro camper for our first serious trip. We went to the Uists and Harris and Lewis, wild camping, and on one site for one night for £10.
An auspuffgummi bust, but we were fixed and sent on our way with the help of Brickwerks, and Jim at Harris Garage services in Tarbert. He owns a T25 and told me about a Ferguson car with the original VC 4wd syastem, and a Ford Capri also with the VC 4wd system, both on the islands. The people were very welcoming and friendly, the beaches outstanding, and the sunsets incredible. Special mentions for Bereray Parish Council and their public shower on the fishing quay on Berneray, and to the Uig Community Shop for their launderette and friendly service. Here are 3 pictures. Looks like some great locations. I once camped on Mull in a tent in September. The wind took the porch and shredded it to pieces. I'll do it in a van next time.
I took your advice (we met in Brecon) and did the mountain road to Tregaron. Great drive

It looks divine! What are the roads like up there? I remember a trip to Mull & Skye (life before camper van) that ended up with lots of small tracks that would definitely prove more than a challenge in Daisy. That was probably due to our own useless navigation at the time but much easier to pass in a newer vehicle.

How weird, we parked at the same place when we did the islands 2 years ago and our bus is the same colour. Loved Harris we went back last year and at the last minute booked the ferry to North Uist just to wild camp at Hosta Beach once more as the sunsets are amazing.

The roads are ok pretty straight forward, to get to Huishnis on Harris can be scary as it is about 10 miles on a single track, but more than worth it, lovely place to park at toilets and also over the hill but the road is pretty bad there.
