knackered rad

i think i know the answer to this one ,but looking for agreement from others.
My t25 1.9 diesel runs hot.
The temp gets up to just past half way so all of the red light is visible and stays there.
But this is at the point where the electric fan cuts in.
Once this temp is reached the fan cut in and out constantly till engine is turned off.
But if i put the heater on and put the fan speed to number three the temp drops and the rad fan cuts out.
I have already changed the thermostat and bled the system .
I recon the rad is knackered as it only gets hot at the bottom. :(

You could be right ... have you taken it off and had it blown through ?

Not yet , not looking forward to the air locks in pipe when replacing rad.
