RnR Bed Foam

Hi guys,
Been looking at rock n roll beds for our van, and apparently for safety the foam needs to be attached to the bed. What exactly does this mean? I may be being dumb, but does the foam need to be glued to a board which is then attached (presumably using some bolts/screws etc) to the frame? Our original foam is in really good condition so don't want to replace it unnecessarily, is there any reason why we can't re-use it on a new RnR bed? Needs recovering but at the moment it just sits on the board with nothing holding it in place other than the tight fit and the poppers on the seat back. Getting seatbelts fitted, so need to think through the bed issue as well. Can we just get belts fitted without doing anything to the seat? Help please!
Thanks everyone!
Cas.
