Heavy Duty shock absorbers for an Autosleeper?

Evening all,

need to replace the shocks on Gunther.

Given it is an Autosleeper Hi Top it is pretty heavy and subject to a lot of wind shear

Thinking about fitting HD (Sachs) shocks rather than standard and just wondered if anyone had any views/experience on HD vs Std.

It is running standard springs BTW.

Cheers,

MM

Just simply renewing the shocks will significantly improve the handling, lets face it they are over twenty years old and are very tired now, but you will never remove that side wind wander.
The standard shocks that VW fitted were designed to cope with the max laden weight of 2.5 tonnes.
Your 'sleeper will never exceed that. My 'sleeper was weighed at 1.910 tonnes with full tanks one person and some camping gear.
I like the floaty ride from my 'sleeper so when my shocks are renewed they will be as close to standard as possible.
Now my mates van has been lowered 50mm and fitted hard shocks .. it goes round corners on a rail but the ride is very harsh for my taste

The Sachs from Brickwerks improved the handling on our lard-arsed camper no end :ok
