Playing around with my t25 today and found the cold start lever was set up half open.
So i loosened the cable and now the lever drops back to the stop position.
The van doesn't run any different and still starts the same.
Have i made any difference at all ? IE fuel consumption or idle speed.
Or does this mean the timing will be wrong now.

The van won't run any different at all, but should be slightly quiter/smoother when idling hot.(Prove this to yourself by pulling the lever out with the engine running warm, and listen to the sound) Above 2000RPM the advance lever has no effect anyway, so the timing won't be affected, neither will fuel consumption.

You may find that in the winter that it doesn't have the desired effect of aiding starting now - the previous owner may have made up slack in the adjustment by setting it thus.
That said I have never found the need to use mine ever since I bought the van - ten years or so.
